Horizon 2020 Info Day with a special focus on Health, Climate, and Energy

In the frame of the IncoNet EaP project, the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation (SRNSF) hosted an Info Day on H2020 in Tbilisi on 25 September 2015 on the premises of Tbilisi State Medical University. 135 participants, representing research organisations, universities, government bodies, NCPs and SMEs took part in the event.

Georgia is en route to an Associated Membership to the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation 'Horizon 2020'. Respectively, researchers, scientists and relevant stakeholders need to be well informed on wide opportunities offered by ‘Horizon 2020’, including priorities, topics, calls, and participation related information.Information events like this Info Day are of utmost importance particularly at this stage. The involvement of experienced partners in such events has proven especially valiuable.

The high number of attendants, highly interactive sessions and lively discussions during the information day clearly depicted the interest of Georgia’s researchers in similar information events and their willingness to receive information on EU supported programmes and their implementation.

On the Agenda (PDF) were:

  • Overview of the Horizon 2020;
  • Activities of the Georgia NCP network in the context of Association Agreement with Horizon 2020;
  • Thematic priorities: Health, Energy, Climate Change – how to participate in Horizon 2020; challenges and benefits;
  • National R&D programmes in favor of Georgia’s international cooperation;
  • Success stories and lessons learnt from participation in international programmes/projects in the thematic fields of Environment and climate change, energy, health.
