    Workshop on Innovation Networks

    In knowledge-based societies Innovation Networks play a crucial role. The networks support the circulation of information and facilitate collaboration across the countries and cultures; they organise alliances enabling ambitious large research projects, and build ecosystems for innovation. The workshop in Tashkent introduced some important European Networks, which play crucial role in the 7th European Framework Programme and beyond, and offered chances to learn about their strategies and activities as well as to exploit options to connect with them.

    Innovating Innovation Systems – Workshop

    The aim of the Closing Workshop for EECA NCPs on 14 May 2012 was to offer room for discussion on innovation and internationalization of Research, Technology and Innovation. Horizon 2020 will put a strong emphasis on innovation and internationalization, especially in the priority of societal challenges, but until now we don’t have many details about its implementation. The promise of Horizon 2020 is to fund projects until the proof of concept (prototype, demonstrations, testing) and to grasp innovation beyond its pure technological meaning. The workshop will compare this new approach with the previous one.

    5th Policy Stakeholders' Conference: 'EU-EECA cooperation in the innovation sector: Bi-regional responses to major societal and economic challenges'

    This event was the 5th in a series of Policy Stakeholders' Conferences that have been successfully organised in Athens, in Moscow, in Astana and in Warsaw to review the state of cooperation and to provide a forum for exchange of good practices in the innovation domain as well. In the specific context of bi-regional S&T cooperation partnerships for addressing global societal and economic challenges, the role of innovation has, until recently, received relatively little attention. The 5th PSC aimed to change this.

    4th Policy Stakeholders' Conference: "EU-EECA Cooperation in Research and Innovation: The way towards 2020"

    Within the framework of the Polish Presidency of the EU, the 4th Policy Stakeholders’ Conference on was held in Warsaw on 15-16 November 2011. About 90 stakeholders from 28 countries, from ministries, research organisations, universities, the private sector and from civil society participated. Previous EU-EECA Policy Stakeholders' Conferences had already taken place in Athens (2009), Moscow (2010) and Astana (May 2011). Conclusions now available!

    Last General Assembly of the IncoNet EECA project

    General Assemblies of the InoNets EECA and CA/SC will be held from 5th to 7th October 2011 in Bucharest, Romania, organised by NSPSPA. For the IncoNet EECA project it will be the last one before the end of the project in June 2012. During this General Assembly decisions need to be made on the possibility of organising pilot Policy Mix review(s), and/or a Benchmarking exercise. There is also a need to talk about the preparation of the Policy Stakeholders' Conference (PSC) in Warsaw and the PSC in Kiev the first half of 2012, and possibly the event in the European Parliament.

    SCOPE EAST Final Meeting

    The final project meeting of the SCOPE-EAST project took place on 20th June 2008 in Bonn. The meeting was held back-to-back to the Project Coordinators Meeting and the Project Management Board meeting of the IncoNet EECA project. The final meeting was dedicated to make a review of the past milestones and deliverables of the SCOPE-EAST project which paved the way to future coordination actions such as is the IncoNet and as will be the BILAT-RUS and BILAT-UKR projects. The IncoNet EECA project coordination team attended the meeting. This secured the smooth and adequate transfer of knowledge, results and lessons learnt.

    In April all Regional Correspondents joined a Workshop hosted by DLR in Bonn covering the organization of information flows building on shared responsibilities of the Central Information Office (DLR) and the Regional Correspondents (HSE, NIP, BelISA, CIT, InExCB-KZ). In addition, the concept of the Web Portal, the respective obligations of the project partners to develop and update its content, the concept of the quarterly Newsletter and the procedures to ensure quality of the information were discussed and agreed upon.     The International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS), in pursuance of its wider goal to enhance the policy dialogue and cooperation between Eastern European and Central Asian (EECA) countries and the EU Member States in the field of science and technology, organised the kick-off meeting of the project entitled “S&T International Cooperation Network for Eastern European and Central Asian Countries” (IncoNet EECA). The project is funded under the 7th Framework Programme for Research of the European Community (FP7) and is coordinated by the ICBSS. The kick-off meeting took place in Athens on 16-18 January 2008.
